Local Ministry

At Western Heights, we encourage our congregation to serve not only through church ministries but also through local ministries outside our church.

Currently, our members serve in many organizations including:

Camp Viola – provides an overnight camp experience for elementary school age children.

First Choice Women’s Center – helps women navigate their choices regarding unplanned pregnancy.

Active Life Senior Center – offers a variety of activities and programming for older adults.

Circles of Troup County – offers help and support to people wishing to lift themselves out of poverty.

Little Lions Preschool – is a partner in ministry of Western Heights. For more than 60 years, the preschool has served the children of LaGrange and Troup County (formerly St. Mark’s Preschool). Little Lions Preschool moved to the Western Heights campus in 2021.

Habitat for Humanity – helps people build or improve a place they can call home.

Truth in Nature – provides Christian male role models to boys growing up in fatherless homes.

Western Heights Food Pantry – provides boxed groceries once a month for people who need them.

Western Heights & Little Lions Preschool Fall Festival – offers the community free games and activities for families in October each year.

Three beliefs guide our local ministries:

1. We believe Jesus held his best classroom with his disciples in ministry opportunities.

2. We believe there is no secular spot on earth. It all belongs to God, and our engagement with the world is our chance to be “salt and light.” (Matthew 5:13-16)

3. We believe the church exists to serve the world and bring the world to the reality of the Kingdom of God in our midst.
